Our Governance
Management Profile

EDI Uganda is democratically and collectively governed through a management structure comprising a General Assembly and Board of Directors. The Constitution requires the General Assembly to appoint 7 of its members to serve on the Board of Directors for three years. The Board of Directors appoints the technical and professional staff as well as volunteers to run the daily affairs of the organization. The day-to-day management of EDI Uganda is headed by the Executive Director assisted by the Program Officer.

Ms. Esther Kirumira
Chairperson Board of Directors

Esther is a professional secretary and retired banker. She served as a local government policy maker for three years before contesting the Woman Parliamentary seat for Mukono District in 2006. With her graduate qualification and experience in social work, she taught social science undergraduate students at a Private University.

She is an executive member on a number of women development groups. Esther also chairs a management committee of a public health center which serves more than 10.000 households in Njeru Town Council. She has a passion for the struggle to promote women’s participation in governance and politics.

Ms. Florence Walubo
Vice Chairperson, Directors' Board

is a Graduate Teacher who has served for a long time under the Education Service Commission heading various Government Primary Schools at different seniority levels with the most current in Njeru Town Council as a Head teacher. She is a senior employee of Buikwe District Local Government, Florence is an instrumental leader within the Teachers’ Trade Union since 2010. She is currently the Vice Chairperson and as well a Board Member at EDI Uganda

Mr. Robert Jjuuko
Executive Director

Is a PhD-Candidate at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands since 2016.He is a researcher, educationist and development consultant with local, regional and global exposure and experience. He has a bachelor’s degree in adult & community education of Makerere University Uganda and Master of Education from University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Robert has more than 15 years of considerable practical experience in varied fields including university teaching, community development, adult learning and social policy analysis and advocacy, and NGO management. He has pioneered the founding of local and national initiatives for advocacy and service delivery focusing on the education rights and needs of out-of-school young people and adults. He is a writer and has authored several practice oriented articles on a range of subjects including adult education and literacy, workplace learning and university internships. Robert has immense interest in youth employment with a focus on their vocational & professional education and training. His current research on Ugandan young people’s education and employment transitions is testimony to his recognition of the fundamental value in supporting young people to succeed in their life, education and work roles. In 2012, he published a monograph on developing vocational skills of young people with incomplete schooling in Uganda. Robert’s current research interest include workplace learning, career guidance, youth transition, vocational pedagogy, adult education policy & financing.

Mr. Willy Baggya
Board Member

Willy is a prominent businessman. He is self motivating and supports development initiatives.

Mr. Saziri Bajje
Board Member

Saziri is a professional teacher.

Mr. Ahamad Mukungu
Board Member

Ahamad is a Graduate Teacher. He is a scholar in Arabic Language and Muslim Affairs.
He is a co-proprietor of Private Secondary School situated in Njeru Town Council, Buikwe District.

Mr. Juma Okee
Programme Officer
Juma is a professional and practicing graduate teacher. A graduate of Computer Science and Information Technology, he designs ICT curricula and directs the delivery and assessment of professional and career training programmes of the AEC Community College. With 19 years experience in organization leadership and management, Juma deputizes the Executive Director.

Mr. Robert Nsubuga
Administrative Assistant

Robert is a practicing adult educator with over ten years experience in facilitating the creation and functioning of social and community groups in Njeru Town Council. He teaches English for Work and Leisure. He also currently holds the position of Principal, AEC Community College where he undertakes the routine office and administrative duties.
