About AEC  

 

Adult Education Centre

Adult Education Centre (AEC) is an indigenous voluntary non-governmental organisation established in 1991. AEC is registered with the National Board for NGOs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Its headoffice is situated in Mukono District at Plots 3 Republic street in Njeru Town some 75 kms east of Kampala City, at the source of River Nile. view brochure

 

The establishment of the AEC was prompted by the desire to create a unique, independent and dedicated adult learning facility to promote the search, generation and utilization of knowledge for community empowerment and development. 
 

Vision

Current and future efforts are designed to establish and nurture  an outstanding civil adult learning agency working to contribute significantly to state and non-state efforts towards cause a harmonious, prosperous and learning society.
 

Mission

Working with adult and young adults to develop the required knowledge, attitudes and skills for sustainable development through education and training, information exchange, lobbying and advocacy.

Organisational Objectives
  • Provide a forum for communities to create self-awareness, conscientization and enhance the acquisition and utilization of skills and knowledge to address the challenges of individual and societal development.
  • Promote lifelong learning choices to enable adults to continuously identify, analyse and tackle issues and problems related to sustainable development.
  • Undertake programmes and projects that promote adult learning for socio-economic and political transformation and prosperity.
Organisational Structure
 
AEC is managed by the Board of Directors which is responsible for drawing strategies, programmes and policies necessary for the smooth running of the organization.  The Board appoints staff and  volunteers on either full or part-time basis for implementing the day -to-day activities.
